Graduates of the University of the Arts, Joe and Gerry have had a long and diverse career, working as a team called Simboli Design. Joe represented the United States in an international poster competition for the United Nations. Gerry was an art consultant for the world-famous Longwood Gardens, creating posters, books, a ten-nation Worldfare display and two Christmas displays. Colorful, graphic zodiac posters, from 1969, were licensed to a well known fashion designer, Paul Smith, for a line of casual clothes which were sold world-wide and featured in the Neiman Marcus website and catalog in 2004. Gerry and Joe created a line of toys, which was introduced at the New York Toy Fair in 2008. They have had a card game published and a unique toy was designed for Creative Playthings. Gerry has developed a line of painting print plaques. Woodworking and sculpture are a continuing interest and the Simbolis have created fine art pieces which have been shown in juried art shows and galleries. They are also known for their creation of a wooden monstrance called "The Mother of the Holy Eucharist," which can be found in chapels and monasteries throughout the world. There are five children within the Simboli family, three of whom are artists. Tim, Andrew and Sara's work can be seen on their websites. The two others are Brian, PhD, who is affiliated with Lehigh University and Leslie, who is an art agent. |
